- To understand the place of cardiac biomarker assessment in the perioperative risk stratification and management of the high-risk cardiac patient undergoing noncardiac surgery.
- To understand and apply the principles of an optimal anesthetic and perioperative management of the high-risk cardiac patient undergoing noncardiac surgery.
- To be able to adapt hemodynamic monitoring tools in function of the perioperative risk profile of the patient.
Yearly, more than 200 million people worldwide undergo noncardiac surgery, of whom about 5% will develop cardiovascular complications. Prevention, early recognition, and prompt treatment of these adverse cardiovascular events is, therefore, an important concern in perioperative medicine. After attending this webinar you will have a better understanding of the current place of cardiac biomarkers in the perioperative assessment of the high-risk cardiac patient and you will receive some tips and tricks for the anaesthetic and perioperative management of these patients.

- perform an analysis on the incidence, predictive variables, and severity of acute kidney injury (AKI) and its impact on the morbidity and mortality; of patients
- provide therapies tailored to time constraints (intermittent, continuous, or extended intermittent), haemodynamic, and metabolic requirements and aimed at molecules of variable molecular weight.
Acute kidney failure increases dramatically morbidity and mortality. In this webinar we aim to deepen the audience knowledge in avoidance and management of acute kidney failure in both the operative and ICU settings.

- To know the indications and contraindications of different types of trunk blocks;
- To know the technical aspects of performing different types of trunk blocks;
- To Identify the patients who have the greater benefit of receiving a trunk block in the perioperative period.
Trunk blocks have become increasingly popular in the last few years, providing high quality post-operative analgesia in a wide set of surgical procedures. After attending this webinar you will be able to have a better understanding of which trunk block is suited to a specific clinic situation and when and how it should be performed.

Major abdominal surgery poses specific challenges to the anesthesiologist, how to improve the hemodynamic management and fluid balance during surgery to diminish peri-operative morbidity and mortality. Non-invasive continuous hemodynamic monitoring is a great tool for anesthesiologists, and through this Webinar we will deepen our knowledge to improve our patients’ level of care.

Lung ultrasound can be used for early detection and management of respiratory complications under mechanical ventilation, such as pneumothorax, ventilator-associated pneumonia, atelectasis, and pleural effusions. This useful technique is becoming incorporated into clinical practice and training in emergency and critical care medicine, where it is effective in rapid diagnosis of the cause of respiratory distress.

Opioid consumption is rapidly increasing worldwide and anesthesiologists have to manage patients with both low-dose and high-dose chronic opioid consumption more often. This represents an anesthetic challenge and patients need a clear peri-operative plan in order to balance their chronic opioid consumption with their post-operative pain management.

Organ donation can be a transformative event for those who receive a transplant. Anaesthetists and Intensive Care doctors are at the forefront of facilitating and managing potential donors. Though well-established protocols and pathways exist, ethical issues and complex physiology can hamper success and make donation difficult. This webinar is aimed at improving understanding of diagnosis of brain death and optimal donor management to ensure success in organ donation.
