On this eLearning course participants will be able to:

The 1-day course will be divided in two parts.
The morning sessions will focus on clinical care of major perioperative complications with(or using or something similar) interactive sessions."
- - Have plenty of time for discussion!
- - Reference the most recent evidence.
In the afternoon, participants will be able to choose between 2 alternative parallel sessions (both small group active learning sessions):
- Clinical care of complex perioperative cases with case based discussions;
- Perioperative management workshop with mini-project development.

- GROUP A: Clinical care of complex perioperative cases (including cases submitted by participants) with case based discussions

The course will take place at Vienna University Hospital (Allgemeines Krankenhaus - AKH):
- Address: Währinger Gürtel 18-20, 1090 Vienna.
- Subway U6 station: Michelbeuern-AKH.
Opening and registration will take place before the room 09.i4.04 (Seminarraum 2) located in the Universitätsklinik für Anästhesie, Allgemeine Intensivmedizin und Schmerztherapie, Floor 9 accessible from the main/side entrance by using the red elevators (see map).
At the end of the course participants should be able to:
- Perform preoperative risk assessment and plan individualised perioperative pathways for high-risk patients;
- Apply early postoperative strategies to reduce “failure to rescue”;
- Identify and treat vital postoperative complications enhancing long-term survival;
- Design a management plan for perioperative care of high-risk patients.
Target audience: Physicians involved in perioperative care of high-risk patients.
The course has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 7 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).
Each medical specialist should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
