A joint session with the pain and palliative care subcommittee. This session will look at what the anaesthetist can bring in terms of skills and services to palliative care. Dr. McGinn is an anaesthetist from Scotland who has recently been nominated for British Medical award for the services he has set up in the West of Scotland at the Beatson oncology centre and near by hospices. Moving on from this introduction, the session will then look beyond opioids at other therapies which can be used in palliative care, before concluding with a talk from one of the Professors of law and jurisprudence at Manchester University looking at the boundaries of palliative care and where (ethically) we may be heading.
