This session provides an international perspective on patient safety, in particular on disparities in access to safe anesthesia and surgery not only overseas, but also in Europe. As the domicile of the WHO headquarters, the 2017 Euroanaesthesia venue Geneva provides ideal references to this subject. Topics covered by this session are initiatives like The Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, the WHA resolution, national and international Drug shortages, and activities of the WHO and of the anaesthesiologist community to improve worldwide access to safe anaesthesia and surgery.
