Postoperative pain is predominantly neuropathic. As with all neuropathic pain types a mechanism-based approach should provide better treatment results. In this symposium a link between neuroinflammation and postoperative pain will be sought.
Since neuroimaging has been used it has become possible to illustrate the action of active compounds and placebo.
