Office based Anaesthesia is a concept of care that has developed in the United States over the last 15 years. While there seems to be limited uptake in Europe, there is a need to review both the regulatory aspects and practical components of service provision, highlighting shortfalls and emphasising patient safety. The two suggested speakers are experts in this field, one being the current President of the International Association for Ambulatory Surgery and Vice President of the American Society of Anesthesiology, and the other a widely published author on the subject. Although the subject was covered briefly at the ESA in Berlin in 2015, there is value in a more in-depth and comprehensive review.
